History of Jager's Dance

How it all began

About us

Don’t just do it, Do it right

It all started at the beginning of 1999 when I relocated from the Netherlands to The United Kingdom. I went to live with my dance partner in Royton (Oldham) to continue my competitive dance career, but the ultimate and long-term plan was to set up a Premier Dance & Events venue around Manchester.

The first 5 years of the business was mostly taken up by actively dancing in competitions, travelling around the world to continue to learn and perfect my own dancing skills. During this time my plan was to also travel around the country to visit various schools and businesses to learn what was required to have the premier dance & events venue. To fund our own dancing career, I produced and sold CD’s, I designed, marketed, and sold dance shoes and eventually set up my own dance shoe company, Topline Dance Shoes Ltd.

During 2004, I commenced coaching my very first students at ‘Jagers Dance’ at our first location, ‘The Pennine Lounge’ in Oldham. Within 12 months Jagers Dance was now teaching in 10 different locations across Greater Manchester, Eccles, Blakeley, Rochdale, Uppermill, Oldham, Stockport, Wilmslow, Radcliffe, Whitefield, & Huddersfield.

The business was growing from strength to strength, and we realised we needed our own venue to expand further. Finally in 2012 a venue came available. Finding a venue to provide us with all our requirements was not an easy task!

In September 2012 after 4 long months of renovations we opened our Premier Dance & Events venue within Earl Mill in Oldham.

My dream was to not only create a dance studio for all ages, all abilities and all styles but to also create an events venue where I could share my other love for catering and hosting parties and events.

To date we have hosted events for some of the largest companies in the North West. We have also hosted team building days for the NHS, BBC & BDO Stoy Hayward. We have run Oscars Evenings, Gala Dinners, Weddings, Birthday Parties, Christenings and our own special events for our dance school too.

Our motto is: Don’t Just Do It, Do It Right!

About Ronald

I am the founding director of Jager’s Dance & Events. I have been teaching for over twenty years and during my career I have trained many dancers who have gone to win at National and International level, have professional careers and many many more who have gained a lifelong love of dance. I am now the proud father to my daughter Eliza and partner to Natasha.

Since retiring from competitive dancing I have built a wealth of experience and developed a great understanding from the guidance of my fabulous mentors. I now thoroughly enjoy coaching my competitive students to develop their own dancing to a top class level.

Firstly, I would like to thank some of my mentors as I was extremely lucky to have worked with some of the best in the industry.

In the Netherlands:

My very first teachers Cees & Huibje Burger; Two wonderful people who taught me my first steps and passed on their love for Dancing.

Piet Rullens; A great coach and fabulous teacher who helped me to achieve my first title, Dutch Champion.

Benny Tolmeyer, Geoffrey Hearn & Byron Charlton; I had a fabulous time tapping into their wealth & experience in Dance.

Ruud Vermeij, Peter Townsend & Maximilian Winkelhuis; This group of coaches changed my whole perspective and vision towards my performance and training.

In England:

Paul & Pauline Taylor & Margaret Redmond; My stability and development in England wouldn’t of been so successful without these great teachers who helped me to develop further and give me a vision.

Bill & Bobby Irvine, Kenny & Marion Welsh, Robert & Barbara Grover, Chris Hawkins & Hazel Newberry; So much wisdom and knowledge shared along our journey together.

Marcus & Karen Hilton MBE, Anthony Hurley & Janet Gleave; I will be forever thankful for the knowledge and professionalism shared. I always have and will continue to look up to you all and have the most fabulous memories of our time together.
